Brian Seggie joined MiHIN as its Security Director in January, 2013 and now serves as Security Director & Chief Security Officer, while also chairing both the MiHIN Operations Advisory Committee Security and Privacy working groups. As MiHIN Chief Security Officer, Brian leads the effort to safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) whether at rest or in motion. Along with the Security working group, Brian developed a Security Framework that incorporates NIST 800-53 standards into a set of policies and templates being used by MiHIN which have been shared with the entire Michigan health care industry.
Before joining MiHIN, Brian spent several years (2007-2013) managing IT Security and Infrastructure for the rapidly growing Hyundai Motor Group’s North America operations. There, he implemented ISO 27001/27002 principals combined with early adoption of leading security technologies and promoted his “Security First” concept globally.
Prior to his tenure at Hyundai, Brian managed IT Infrastructure and Disaster Recovery for Con-way Transportation, where he implemented a continuous improvement methodology and developed efficient processes for seamlessly transitioning resources from primary data centers to secondary sites, as needed.
Brian holds a Bachelor’s degree in business from Cleary University and is completing his Masters in Information Assurance from Walsh College. Brian currently holds a CISSP certification from ISC(2) and is an active participating member of ISSA, ISACA and SIM.
