MiHIN and Livonia Schools piloting new program to make accessing immunization records easier

LANSING, Mich., March 5, 2019 — Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN) and Livonia Public Schools along with Wayne RESA are partnering to pilot a new online program to help parents and legal guardians quickly request and receive immunization records from the state. MiHIN’s Consumer Mediated Exchange is an integration that works with a school’s parent portal, so parents or guardians can immediately access their child’s immunization record. In Michigan, students are required to show proof of immunizations for kindergartners, 7th graders and new enrollees. For parents, this typically means a trip to the doctor’s office or health department to request their child’s record, which often comes with a cost.
