Name Change Announcement – MIGateway

Published: 11/4/2020 - MiHIN is pleased to announce a new name for MIDIGATE, the interoperable solution for coordinating patient care. Henceforth, MIDIGATE will be known as MIGateway, which stands for Medical Information Gateway. The name change was prompted by the continued evolution of the product that now includes a suite of data exchange and display modules including the Transitions of Care Viewer, ACRS file and patient uploader, ADT Readmission Dashboard, Health Directory, Super C-CDA, Direct Secure Messaging, and most recently the longitudinal health record, known as VIPR. MiHIN’s Information Blocking Task Force: Updates for Compliance and Effects on Stakeholders

The InterOp Station

Published: 10/23/2020 -  The MiHIN Group’s InterOp Station is a fully FHIR-enabled platform that facilitates broad healthcare data interoperability.  It has been designed to provide HIE functionality required by the 21st Century Cures Act and the associated ONC/CMS Interoperability and Patient Access final rules with a minimum burden and maximum ease of use for stakeholders. MiHIN Plays Critical Role in COVID-19 Response in Michigan

Published: 10/2/2020 -  HIEs and HINs across the U.S. have been supporting healthcare providers in their response to the on-going COVID-19 Pandemic. MiHIN maintains real-time COVID results delivery to the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS) as well as to health departments, payers, and clinicians across the state, leveraging their core use cases. EARLY RESPONSE FOR DETROIT In early March, at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, MiHIN put its expertise to work in Metro Detroit to spin up a data tracking operation for the drive-by COVID-19 testing facility located at the former Michigan Fairgrounds. Using MiHIN’s health information exchange technology, physician orders for patients requiring COVID-19 testing were sent electronically, notifying clinical support staff at the fairgrounds of the expected volume and specific patients they could expect each day....

MiHIN convenes statewide experts to advocate for an improved Advance Directive witnessing procedure

Published: 10/2/2020 -  Who would speak for you if you could not speak for yourself? If you have appointed a Patient Advocate, would they be able to say what matters most to you to live life well? Making Choices Michigan (MCM), a strategic business unit of MiHIN, has been helping community members create an Advance Directive (AD) document to help people identify their Patient Advocate and describe their preferences for care the past 8 years. One major challenge to completing the document, in both community and acute care spaces, is the document witness requirements. The law describing the witness requirements was passed in 1998[i], well before the internet became a household word.
