About this event

Shreya Patel, MiHIN Chief Policy & Privacy Officer, will be presenting on the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) 2023 Rule and the new CMS Streamlined Modular Certification (SMC) Rule at this month’s Download.

TOPICS INCLUDE :

  • How the new SMC process will impact the way the State submits funding and how MiHIN’s Use Cases are structured to meet their goals
  • Requirements for providers, dictated by the proposed IPPS, who will need to meet them to receive Medicare and Medicaid dollars

CMS released a state medicaid director letter on sunsetting the Medicaid Enterprise Certification Toolkit (MECT) and the Medicaid Eligibility and Enrollment Toolkit (MEET), and introduced the Streamlined Modular Certification (SMC). Through the SMC, State Medicaid Agencies – and their technology vendors – are to move to an accountable structure where they must set tangible goals for improved patient outcomes in their APD and OAPD for the year, and from there they must create measures to report on to demonstrate the technology they are investing in helps them accomplish those goals.

Additionally, we will discuss the requirements dictated within the proposed 2023 IPPS – or Inpatient Prospective Payment System – including information on a variety of topics related to metrics and conditions of participation for maternal care, health equity, Medicare payments for hospitals who are absorbing the costs of unpaid services, and climate change impact on health and healthcare.
